Eastern Red Cedar Poles

We specialize in harvesting aromatic eastern red cedar.  As we log this wood, we sometimes do run across large enough trees from which to make saw logs, and we currently have some in stock. Please view our inventory page to see what is available.
We cut the highest grade cedar and every purchase is a custom by diameter and length. We typically sell this wood locally but our cedar has found its way into Central Park, New York City, as far south as Miami, Florida, as far west as Denver, Colorado, and as far north as New York’s Adirondacks!

Eastern red cedar (Juniperus Virginiana L.) is the most widespread of all native eastern conifers. Slow growing and long lived, it is a shrubby tree attaining heights to 50’, but is capable of girth diameters up to and sometimes larger than 24”. Although considered a cedar, it is actually a juniper. The wood is very durable in contact with soil, making it a great candidate for fence posts.

Eastern Red Cedar is a beautiful tree that tends to take over abandoned fields, making it one of the very first trees in the rejuvenation and revival process in new forests and one of the most desirable trees for landscaping and ornamental plantings.  The tree produces a “cedar apple” that is actually a rust fungus which can spread to nearby apple trees. They also produce a blue colored berry that birds feed on during the winter months.

If you have a substantial amount of eastern red cedar and would like to harvest it please contact us in our contact directory.

It is sad how much of this wood gets wasted and turned to chips, pulp or firewood. It takes a lot of time, hard work, machinery, and ambition to do a harvest properly, but that is what we are all about.
